Wellbeing at Alchemmy

Our Purpose

At Alchemmy, the wellbeing of our Alchemmists is of the utmost importance and is integral to our success. We are committed to fostering an environment where employees can thrive both personally and professionally. Our wellbeing initiatives are designed to promote a healthy work-life balance, reduce stress and encourage personal growth. From providing private healthcare and promoting flexible working, to hosting educational talks and fitness challenges, we are dedicated to creating a workplace that prioritises the health and happiness of our people.

Our Support Network

We pride ourselves at Alchemmy for our large support network. We ensure every new joiner feels welcomed and well-integrated by pairing them with a buddy for their first six months, allowing them to settle in smoothly. Every Alchemmists is also assigned a line manager who oversees their professional and personal development, and an engagement manager who provides additional support specifically on client/internal engagements.

Recognising the importance of mental health, we have enhanced our support network at Alchemmy by implementing mental health training for our managers and leaders. Before assuming line manager duties, each manager is required to complete an introductory mental health awareness course. This ensures that our managers are equipped with the knowledge and sensitivity to address mental health issues, promoting a culture of empathy and educated support at Alchemmy.

We also have a team of qualified Mental Health First Responders across the company, who have undergone training with St John’s Ambulance. Their presence further strengthens our support network. They also play a crucial role in raising awareness about mental health at Alchemmy, encouraging open conversations and actively working towards reducing the stigma associated with discussing mental health.

Wellbeing Initiatives

Tea & Talk is our dedicated wellness initiative where colleagues gather over hot beverages to discuss important health and wellbeing topics. These sessions cover a range of subjects including sleep, stress management, work-life balance, nutrition, and exercise. Tea & Talk provides a relaxed environment for learning, sharing experiences, and prioritising personal wellbeing in our work and private lives. These informal gatherings offer valuable opportunities for our people to gain knowledge, connect with colleagues, and focus on their health in a supportive setting.

We also regularly invite external speakers to our offices for more formal educational talks, bringing expert insights and fresh perspectives on topics such as sleep, nutrition and gut health. This also allows Alchemmists to deepen their understanding of important wellbeing topics.

At Alchemmy, we are passionate about fostering connections beyond the workplace. That’s why our Wellbeing Team have established several Wellbeing Groups based on shared interests- ranging from gaming and sports to books and culture. These groups provide a space for open discussions, recommendations and event organisation, with a conscious effort to minimise alcohol-centric activities. We aim to organise regular events within each group, and also collaborate with other groups where possible.

We like to use key dates in the calendar to launch wellbeing initiatives, discuss important topics and share information which prioritises wellbeing in our conversations. These dates include Stress Awareness Month, World Mental Health Day and Nutrition and Hydration Week.

For National Walking Month, in collaboration with Alchemmy Gives, the Wellbeing team organised a step challenge to motivate Alchemmists to be more active and spend more time outdoors, fostering a spirit of healthy competition.

Social Wellness Club Partnership

Alchemmy Wellbeing has partnered with Social Wellness Club (SWC) to deliver multiple Flagship Events at our London office. These events provide an opportunity for Alchemmists to learn from a range of experienced speakers on a variety of healthcare topics across the four SWC pillars of wellness: Movement, Mindfulness, Nutrition & Sleep.

These insightful evening events have focused on breathwork, mindfulness, goal setting, gut-health and much more, and provide Alchemmists with access to knowledge and advice from the inspiring panellists and speakers, as well as networking opportunities with other like-minded attendees.

Alchemmy Wellbeing support the set-up and running of these events, with the SWC team. Through this partnership, we have also been able to provide further wellbeing benefits for Alchemmists including a gut-health focused nutrition talk and access to discount codes with SWC brand sponsors.
